New Year…New You?
It’s the New Year. And so you’ve likely been bombarded with all the messages of change and growth. New Year’s is synonymous for resolutions. It’s a time for reflection. Goal Setting. Revamping. Improvements. A clean slate. Change.
And all of that can be a really positive thing. There’s nothing like a fresh start to gain hope and inspiration. It’s wonderful to set goals and strive for improvement. To assess just what’s been working, and what areas still need work. It is beneficial to take steps to improve our health, relationships, and careers.
You are beautiful right now.
But, sweet friend, before you go through the list of all the things you want to change, may I just stop and tell you that with the new year, you do not need a new you? May I interrupt all the noise telling you that you must transform yourself and say that you are beautiful right now just as you are. May I remind you that you are talented in this very moment. That you are valuable today without the new systems in place, a new diet and exercise regime, or new morning routine.
Friends, betterment is a wonderful thing. And we should all grow and make positive changes. Everyone needs to work on themselves. Trust me, friends, I’ve got room for improvement…but sometimes I feel as though we can be so busy transforming that we miss so much joy in who and where we are right now in the moment. If we’re constantly striving, constantly focusing on all that needs fixing, are we ever really content in the now? Do we overlook the beauty right in front of us?
And so go for it. Make your resolutions. Drink more water. Organize that closet. Start that business. Choose those positive changes where needed. Grow. But please know your worth now, too. Don’t get so caught up in who you want to be that you can’t see the amazing person today staring back at you in the mirror.
You don’t need a new you. You, right now, are created for purpose and special today just as you are.
