As you may now know, online shopping is my lifeline. I can literally pick out an item while unloading the dishwasher, fixing diner, and listening to a podcast all at the same time. Can you tell I have mastered the art of multitasking like a boss? So when I knew I had less than 2 weeks to find an outfit for my upcoming blog headshots, I took to two of my favorites: Stitch Fix and Nordstrom.
I love Stitch Fix because they do all the work for you, and I love Nordstrom for their free shipping and returns, laxed return policy, quick turn around, and wide selection. I already had a May Fix scheduled, so I quickly adjusted my stylist note and then created my own Nordstrom box for more options. Some of you may be wondering why I did not choose to use Nordstrom’s styling service Trunk Club…no time. I had about 10 days to pick outfit options, so I needed it now. Some of you may also be wondering why I did not take to my own closet for options, I did, but I also did one of my classic moves: rationally decide I hate everything in my closet and vow to throw it all out. Don’t worry, no clothes were harmed in the making of my headshot outfits.
I was in the market for possible maxi dresses, tops to wear with jeans, and a layering piece to tie it all together.
So for the review:
Lush Crepe Tee in taupe for $35. Size Medium. I really liked this top and it’s lower price point. I was specifically envisioning lighter, muted colors to compliment the blog color scheme, so this fit perfectly. The top is versatile giving the option to wear out or half tucked. While I really loved the color for my headshots, I didn’t feel like it was the most practical color for my life. The taupe is beautiful with a blush undertone, but so light. I’m a messy mama with 4 kids living on a farm, so not the best fit for me. I will note that this top comes in 5 other colors. The black and coral are my favorite.
Verdict: Returned
Maggy London Print Matte Jersey Maxi Dress for $138. Size medium. This dress is beautiful with a great key hole racer back that I loved. However, it was not 100% me or what I envisioned. The colors were a little brighter than I wanted for the shot, the length was above the ankle, which always feels a little bit choppy on me (I like my maxis to be long, flowy), and the price point was too high not to absolutely love.
Verdict: Returned
Lush Blue Tonal Wrap Tank for $42. Size medium. I really loved this top. It was different than anything else I had in my closet, and I love all things blue. I did not feel it to be the best headshot option though. The colors weren’t as soft as I wanted, and I also felt the stripes might be distracting in the pictures. It seemed like a great addition to my closet, but not the right choice for the pictures. This top also comes in coral and back.
Verdict: Undecided. Held it back from my returns and thinking on it.
WAYF Tank in pink silver for $45. Size medium. Yes!! All the praise hands! This is EXACTLY what I wanted. The soft color is perfect for the vivid background of the gardens where the shots were being taken. The material is that ideal combination of flowy enough, but with a little bit of structure to give some shape. The price is right. Love the front and back V detail. It is perfect.
Verdict: Kept
Levi Cropped Military Jacket in Navy on sale for $51.90. Size medium. Yes, again!! I absolutely love a great jacket to tie everything together and add some dimension to an outfit. This jacket is EVERYTHING! It will most definitely be a staple in my wardrobe. The color is gorgeous; while it’s described as navy, it has more teal undertones. The price is amazing for a high quality, timeless jacket that can really go with just about anything. It is the perfect completer piece to compliment the WAYF tank. I will note that it also comes in tan and deep olive.
