Easy, inexpensive homemade laundry soap
Laundry is a never ending task, isn’t it? Coffee. Laundry. Repeat. Sip. Sort. Fold. Repeat. These are the rhythms of most mornings around here. And then there is the maddening hunt for that matching sock that still blows my mind…where do these socks go exactly? How can we possibly have so many unmatched socks? At what point do we abandon all hope of finding it’s mate? But I digress.

Back to the homemade laundry soap.
We do a lot of laundry around here. Life on a farm is dirty. Kids are messy. And let’s be real here, I spill that coffee I sip on while I fold daily. So that means loads of laundry (pun intended), which can become costly. While I’m not much of a do it yourselfer, even I can handle this quick, easy homemade laundry recipe to help cut costs.
It makes a ton. It’s a fraction of the cost. A little goes a long way. And is safe for all washing machines.

All you’ll need is: Oxy Clean, Borox, Arm and Hammer Baking Soda, Arm and Hammer Washing Soda, Fells Napa Soap.
Mama’s Homemade Laundry Soap
1~3 lb container of Oxy Clean
1 ~4 lb 12oz box of Borax
1~4 lb box Arm And Hammer Baking Soda
1~4 lb box Arm And Hammer Super Washing Soda
4 bars Fels Napa Soap ~grated
Instructions:
Grate your Fels Napa Soap. I have used a hand grater, but much prefer the convenience of using my food processor. I use and love this one. Mix all ingredients together in a large tub or bucket. Store in an air tight container.
I fill this glass container to display above my washing machine for everyday use and keep the excess stored in a large container under the sink.

Amount:
Approximately 2-3 Tablespoons per load.
Use decorative scoops like these with your glass container to add to your laundry room décor.
Tell me:
How often do you do laundry? Are you a one big laundry day kind of person or a load a day kind?
